1.Restriction of the Use of Certain Hazardous Substances (RoHS) Directive :
A directive of the European Union that restricts the use of certain hazardous substances in electrical and electronic equipment. The sale of electrical and electronic equipment that contain certain levels of (1) lead, (2) mercury, (3) cadmium, (4) hexavalent chromium, (5) polybrominated biphenyls (PBBs), (6) polybrominated diphenyl ethers (PBDES), (7) dibutyl phthalate (DBP), (8) benzylbutyl phthalate (BBP), (9) bis-(2-ethylhexyl) phthalate (DEHP) and (10) diisobutyl phthalate (DIBP) is banned.
2.End of Life Vehicles (ELV) Directive :
A directive of the European Union that addresses the recycling of end-of-life vehicles with the aim of preventing the disposal of hazardous substances. Vehicles sold in the EU after July 2003 may not contain lead, mercury, cadmium, and hexavalent chromium.
3. Globally Harmonized System of Classification and labeling(GHS):
The GHS is designed to alert workers and consumers to the potential dangers of chemical products by classifying chemical products according to the danger or toxicity of the product including whether they are carcinogenic or flammable, creating a standardized system for labeling that makes this information clear to users, and providing safety data sheets.
4.The Stockholm Convention on Persistent Organic Pollutants (POPs):
POPS adopted in May 2001, is a global treaty to protect the environment and humans from chemicals that can accumulate and have harmful effects on the environment, humans and wildlife over long periods of time.
5.Registration, Evaluation, Authorization and Restriction of Chemicals (REACH):
A regulation introduced in the European Union (EU) in June 2007, under which substances manufactured or used in the EU are subject to registration, evaluation, authorization and restriction. In particular, SVHC refers to Substances of Very High Concern, which are substances of very high concern for the environment and human health, and are candidates for authorization under REACH. *TAT inks meet the specified thresholds.
